King, the Dashing Southwestern Labsky

dog of week 11-23-13 king webKing was adopted within hours of his debut, but we wanted to share him with you anyway!

As athletic as the mighty Pirates and sweeter than honey, 9-month-old King is as unique as they come.  King is a Dashing Southwestern Labsky and you can only find him at the Georgetown Animal Shelter.

Since King is mostly black, he would match all of your black and gold Southwestern gear.  He is very ball driven and would love to accompany you to any sporting event – just watch for the pick six because King WILL intercept the ball! King is neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped, and housetrained.

He was brought to the shelter with 7 of his siblings when they were 3 months old and he is the only one still waiting for a home. King is now the longest term resident at the shelter and has a reduced adoption fee. King’s motto, just like Southwestern University, is “Not Who But What.”

King doesn’t care who you are, what kind of car you drive, or how much money you make. King only cares about what kind of life you will provide for him. His only requirement: a lifetime of love and loyalty.  Please don’t let King celebrate his first birthday at the shelter.

Ryder

cat of the week 11-16-13 ryder web

UPDATE:  Adopted!

This is Ryder, and he is an 8 month old white and orange kitty.  He was adopted once as a very young kitten but was returned to the shelter after having a bad allergic reaction to a flea collar (we think).

He have the highest pitch meow and the most golden amber colored eyes that he uses to melt hearts.  He loves to play with other kitties and would get along fine with cat-savvy dogs.  When you come meet him,  you may notice a small scar on my neck and a scab on my ear from the allergic reaction, but please don’t let that stop you for seeing how beautiful and loving he is.

He is  neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped and litter box trained.  Take him home for Thanksgiving and give him something to be extra thankful for: a new forever home!

Doug

dog of week 08-24-13 doug

10/5  Adopted!

Howdy-do! My name is Doug and I am a 2 year old cattle dog. Oh don’t mind this collar around my neck! It’s actually gone now.  I recently had surgery to help fix a previous injury to my back leg and the humans around here didn’t want me to lick my stitches for some reason.  I am neutered, current on vaccines, and microchipped.

I am housetrained and know basic commands, and I get along great with all people and other dogs.  I might always have a permanent limp but that won’t hinder me from going on walks in the park, hopping in the car for a ride, or snuggling next to you during the ball game. Do you have a Doug-shaped hole in your life? Have no fear! I am ready to fill that hole and enjoy a lifetime of love and laughter with a new forever family. Come visit me today and see just how great I truly am!

Donna

ADOPTED January 2014, after almost eight months at the shelter!  She was certainly well-loved among staff, volunteers and visitors, but we are thrilled she finally found a forever home!

Hi! My name is Donna and I am a petite, 10 year old, spayed, tuxedo (black and white) cat.  I might be 10 years old but age is just number, right? I am still very active and kitten-like. I love to romp around and be petted. I am current on vaccines, microchipped, and have wonderful litterbox habits.

cat of week 07-13-13 donnaI actually have a microchip that goes all the way back to Massachusetts so I have travelled a very long way just to find a forever home.  I am free to a senior anytime and free to the first qualified applicant on Sundays. Come meet me soon; I’ll be in the lobby!

Johnny T and Chuck

cats of the week 08-03-13 chuck and johnny

UPDATE:  Adopted together, and giving their new family lots of laughs and love!

Johnny T and Chuck have been at the shelter all of their lives (except for when they went to a foster home to get socialized and gain weight).  There are brothers but do not necessarily need to go to the same home.

They are both very friendly and playful.  Both are neutered, current on vaccines, litterbox trained, and microchipped.  Both are 4 month old, black and white, domestic short hair kittens with hearts of gold.  They get along great with other cats, cat-savvy dogs, and all ages of people.  Chuck is the one with a little mustache, and Johnny T is the one with the bandit mask.  Consider adopting 1 or both of these wonderful boys. We promise you won’t regret it!

River and Frank

cats of the week 02-02-13 river and frank webUPDATE:  Adopted together!

Meet River and Frank! River is a 15 year old, toothless grey tabby.  Frank is a 10 year old, black and white cat. They were both owner surrendered to us when their previous owner could no longer take care of them due to health problems. They are loving cats and miss being a part of a family.

These senior guys are very low maintenance and would enjoy getting to spend their golden years together.  They are both neutered, current on vaccines, litter box trained, and microchipped.  River eats canned food due to being toothless but other than that, they are both good to go.  Come see how precious these two boys are today!
